If you look closely you will see the Hawaiian Islands make up the Lau (leaves) of the Kalo (Taro) with our Signature H inside the Corm. This design was inspired by the story of Hāloa. Hāloa Naka was the first son of Wākea Father Sky and his Daughter Ho’ohokulani. Hāloa Naka was born stillborn, so he was buried and in time a plant grew, thus being the first Kalo; respected sibling and elder brother to their second born son Hāloa aka the first Hawaiian. From the first Kalo, it produced an ‘oha or baby corm, and that was removed and planted and formed another mother plant. And as this cycle continued, the plants grew and grew just like Family’s do, hence the word ‘ohana derived from ‘oha. This story of Hāloa shows the connection between people and nature.
